Examples of areas the township board continually addresses to meet the needs of township residents:
Roads – The Township Board is committed to our residents through the upkeep, maintenance, and safety of the approximately 10 miles of unpaved township roads. These roads require time and money to keep them in the best driving condition possible for our resident’s use.
Cemeteries – Brevator Township maintains two cemeteries; Pine River on the east side and Simian on the west side for those who live or have lived in the Township. Contact the Township Clerk if you have questions or need a lot within one of our cemeteries.
EMS and Fire Protection – Initially Brevator Township had its own Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) with two stations, one each on the east and west side of the township. As time went on, typical of other VFD’s, it was difficult to find volunteers. On January 1, 2018 Brevator Township joined the Cloquet Area Fire District (CAFD). CAFD provides ambulance and fire protection to its member communities. CAFD is comprised of the City of Cloquet, Perch Lake Township, City of Scanlon, and Brevator as full members receiving fire and ambulance services. Thomson Township and St. Louis County Townships have their own fire suppression and rescue departments within the CAFD’s ambulance Primary Service Area receive ambulance coverage. CAFD has a member representing Brevator Township on the CAFD Board.
